Since moving to Rome in 1990, Vic Mitchell has called Rome home. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in 1983 (Bachelor of Science in Education,) Vic continued on to complete his Master of Education in the summer of 1984. During his time at UGA, he served as an undergraduate student manager with the Men’s Basketball Program and later in a graduate assistant coaching position.
Vic was part of the UGA team that advanced to the 1983 NCAA Final Four in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Upon graduation from UGA, Vic accepted his first career position at Reinhardt College, after six years at Reinhardt, Vic was hired as the Women’s Basketball Coach at Shorter University in the fall of 1990. During his time at Shorter, Vic became the school’s all-time winningest basketball coach, men’s or women’s, ultimately notching over 500 wins during his coaching career. In addition to his coaching duties, Vic also served as a Senior Associate Athletic Director in the Athletic Department. For over 25 years, Vic directed the successful Vic Mitchell Basketball Camps at Shorter a well as speaking regularly at local camps throughout Rome and the NW Georgia area. In 2017, Vic transitioned out of collegiate athletics and worked as Director of Catering and Community Relations for Otter’s Chicken in Marietta, GA.
Vic joined Hardy Realty in 2020 and earned the Circle of Excellence Award in 2021. He is a member of the Georgia Association of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors, the Rome / Floyd Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Rome Board of Realtors.
